Greene County Economic Development Authority

Your Economic Development Authority (EDA) is made up an all-volunteer board of directors whose job is to help attract new business to Greene County, grow existing businesses and direct your County’s investment in commercial enterprise. The meaning of economic development is far-reaching. Economic development means rewarding, well-paying careers for you and your family, occupational and professional education, job-skills training and job security. Economic development brings a significant source of tax revenue into your community which helps your public schools and your fire and rescue services thrive. It is about the best use of your designated commercial areas and preservation of your valuable, rural landscape. Your investment in economic development is an investment in the economic health of the community, your family and yourself. EDA promotes Greene as a riche center for business development and expansion. Its central location also makes it a convenient tourist hub.

Through your EDA, the Tourism Council supports Greene County’s tourism industry. It also supports the annual Discover Virginia Food & Wine Festival and helps support the Battle of Stanardsville Reenactment and the Monticello Wine Festival. Your EDA also plays a strong role in the revitalization of Stanardsville, you county seat. Three EDA board members volunteer on the Stanardsville Area Revitalization (*STAR*) board of directors.
