Greene County Board of Supervisors
The County is governed by a five member Board of Supervisors, elected to a four-year term by citizens from each of the electoral districts.
The Board is responsible for planning, developing and regulating growth and for maintaining current county operations and services.
To assist the county, the Board of Supervisors appoints members (generally county residents) to various Commissions and Committees.
These groups provide direct or advisory support in numerous aspects of county government. Greene County has a Comprehensive Plan which encourages businesses and industrial development while protecting the County’s rural beauty.
The Greene County Board of Supervisors has public meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Meetings with executive seasonal start at 5:30 pm. and public sessions start at 7:30 pm. The meetings are held in the county administration building at 40 Celt Road in Stanardsville. The county administration office can be reached by calling 985-5201.
Virginia House of Delegates
Greene’s Delegate is Robert B. “Rob” Bell, who has been a member of the House of Delegates since 2002. Greene is part of the 58th House District, which comprises parts of the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna and Orange and all of Greene County.

Virginia State Senate
Greene’s Senator is Emmett W. Hanger, Jr. Greene is part of the 24th Senatorial District, which comprises parts of Albemarle, Rockbridge and Rockingham counties, all of the cities of Lexington, Staunton and Waynesboro, and all of the counties of Augusta, Greene and Highland.

Stanardsville Town Council
The Standardsville Town Council holds public meetings on the second Monday of each month in the Town Hall, located next to the Post Office on Celt Road in Standardsville. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m.
County Administration
The day-to-day operations of the county are overseen by a county administrator—Barry Clark. The county administrator supervises various department heads and reports to the Board of Supervisors. The county office is located at 40 Celt Road, Standardsville, and can be reached by calling 985-5201.
The county administrator has a combined advisory and executive role. It includes rsearching options and alternatives to proposed plans and advising the Board of Supervisors as it develops policy and direction for the county government. When policies are enacted, the administrator directs the staff as it carries out the policies of the board.
