Verica victimized: Virginia Tech 17, Virginia 14 (FINAL)

Virginia quarterback Marc Verica threw his seventh interception in three games, erasing any chance at a potential game-tying field goal. The Cavaliers got the ball back but Verica was sacked on fourth down at the Virginia 5.

After further review: Virginia Tech 17,  Virginia 14 (4th Qtr.)

The Hokies have taken the lead. After missing a previous field goal, Virginia Tech’s Dustin Keys nailed a 28-yard field goal. That capped a 10-play, 40-yard drive that killed 5:17 off the clock. Virginia has 6:37 and all three timeouts left to answer.

Shifting gears: James Monroe 14, Monticello 7 (2nd Qtr.)

Why not give an update on another local team in action? My sources tell me that Monticello fumbled, which led to a James Monroe touchdown. The Mustangs will have to mount a comeback to advance to the state title game.
