4th and uglier: Clemson 10, Virginia 3 (4th Qtr.)
Virginia looked primed for points, but the drive stumbled as Al Groh gambled. At least he went with the I-formation. Perhaps passing out of the I-formation would work. Clemson brought the house and it appeared that center Jack Shields missed a block. ... Monticello still leads John Handley - it is 20-7 in the fourth quarter. ... My toes at this point are beyond frozen. If you did not know, Virginia has an open-air press box. It is hard to type with frozen digits, but I press on for the people. ... Virginia did force Clemson to punt before I hit send. It was a quick drive for the Tigers. Virginia will have 10 minutes to save Senior Day. ... Try putting Vic Hall on offense for a play. If nothing else it will be a decoy. Worked last year. ... Heard from a source that former Virginia cornerback Chris Cook met with Groh last week and appears set to return next year. The same source said Cook would return at cornerback and Hall would slide to safety. Virginia would have the nation’s smallest safeties. Cook would make a nice safety, as he is bigger and could play the position in the professional ranks.
