Air Verica: UVa 7, Maryland 0 (1st Qtr.)

Posted on 10/04 at 07:31 PM

For the second straight game, Virginia has taken the lead first. This time, however, the Cavaliers actually scored a touchdown. Yes, a real touchdown. QB Marc Verica threw a pretty spiral on a deep pass play for the score. Obviously, it was the longest play of Verica’s career. Virginia’s defense appears energized by the rare TD. The touchdown drive took three plays and covered 63 yards. ... Virginia running back Cedric Peerman is playing tonight. The senior looks pretty good thus far. Kieth Payne is not in uniform, as expected, and is sporting a cast on his left wrist. ... The Power of Orange campaign marches on. This time Somdev Devvarman and Chris Long joined in raising the flag - twice (it fell on the first attempt). ... Former Virginia kicker Chris Gould is also in the house.
