By air and by land: UConn 14, Virginia 0 (2nd Qtr.)
The Huskies have struck again.
All the talk that UConn was not good because they barely beat Temple is out the window. This UConn football appears to be on a mission. The Huskies have ran harder, tackled better and have a rather simple plan for whipping Virginia. Can the Cavs’ coaching staff make the needed adjustments?
UConn QB Tyler Lorenzen capped off the Huskies second scoring drive with the first touchdown pass of the season for his team. UVa cornerback Vic Hall appeared to be the player beat on the play. Safety Corey Mosley was given some field time. Virginia sure could use another safety to play alongside Byron Glaspy.
On offense, Virginia went three-and-out. Verica handed off to Cedric Peerman, passed in the flat to Peerman and then threw a slider into the dirt to end the possession. Enter stage left Jimmy Howell. Virginia fans had something to cheer about - the rookie boomed a beauty of a punt.
What does this start say about Richmond’s football team? Perhaps nothing. The Spiders won big today.
Here’s a question: Will Virginia be favored in another game this season? Maybe at Duke (the Blue Devils won today). Possibly against Maryland (the Terps won today over a ranked team). Where is N.C. State on the schedule when Groh needs it?
