Early injury report for USC game comes up empty
Virginia has officially survived training camp.
The Cavaliers media relations office released the program’s injury report on Monday and the document did not include a single player.
What does it mean?
At this point, per Dr. David Diduch, the program does not have a single student-athlete that has been ruled out for the season. That was not the case at this point last year. Former CB Mike Brown (ACL) was a known loss and WR Kevin Ogletree (ACL) had been all but ruled out for the entire season.
The blank injury report also means that Virginia does not have any players that are scheduled for surgery, thus ruling them out for Saturday’s USC game. Had a student-athlete been placed on the list, their status would have been listed as “out.“
It does not mean, however, that Virginia does not have players nursing injuries that could impact their availability. A list will be made available Thursday that states the status for players. It will be broken down in four categories: “probable,“ “questionable,“ “doubtful,“ or “out.“ (Note: The announcement will come within 90 minutes of the completion of the team’s practice that day).
At least a few names are expected to be on the report. LB John Bivens (knee) is still limited by lingering issues and CB Ras-I Dowling (leg) was slowed in training camp. Stay tuned.
