It’s all over: UVa 35, ECU 20 (FINAL)

Virginia is getting back to .500. Nice win for the Cavaliers. Al Groh also gets back to .500 in his college coaching career. Virginia finishes its non-conference slate at 2-2. ... Left guard Zak Stair was in uniform today but did not play. Placekicker Robert Randolph did see the field. He burned his redshirt on the fake field goal and the PAT that followed. ... Virginia will play UNC next week at 3:30 p.m. at home. ... Back after a jaunt to the press room for some happy quotes from Virginia’s players.

Last week of Cornbread the Comic said that Al the Owl had started to get the old Cavalier Chefs back in the kitchen when they made turtle soup out of Maryland.  Now we can see how that it was Captain Al Groh tricking the ECU pirates just as easy as Jack Sparrow does in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.  Now we still have some doubters in C’ville, it those same people that gnashed their teeth when Coach Al won ACC Coach of the Year in 2007 (last year for the numerically challenged).  Now Al & the Cavs got off to a slow start this year, but this is football.  In football the best team doesn’t always win, good coaches get beat, emotional teams upset better teams, the oblong ball bounces funny…sometimes your way, sometimes in favor of the other team.  Now before you get ready to fire Coach AL the OWL the next time, you need to wait until he has lost for a couple of bad seasons not after a couple of bad games.

As my momma, used to always say, “You can lead a horse to water but there is more fish in the ocean!“  Now I know that don’t make no sense but Momma was on a lot of medication in her old age.
