Takeem rumbles in: Monticello 6, Richlands 0 (1st Qtr.)
Monticello is on the board - Takeem Hedgeman powered into the end zone from 2 yards out for his 49th touchdown of the season. The record, held by Cedric Peerman, will be tied with one more. ... Now for the basics of the drive and from the start. ... MHS tailback Takeem Hedgeman took the handoff on the Mustangs’ first offensive play. The tailback splashed forward for three yards, but from the roar coming from the Richlands fan section, well, you would have though Hedgeman lost 20 yards. ... On Monticello’s first third-down situation, offensive guru Brud Bicknell called for a pass play and quarterback Michael Graham hit wideout Jacob Pelton for the necessary yardage. From what I can gather, the intermediate pass plays will be there all day long. ... The Mustangs also went for later on their first drive on 4th-and-7 at the Richlands 37 and Graham found Pelton again. Props to Bicknell for that call, one that I am told he has made all season. ... This first drive, which lasted 17 plays, covered 76 yards and took off 5:33 from the clock. Perhaps the longest drive of the playoffs for the Mustangs? ... Graham had excellent protection. ... The PAT was blocked.
