The German comes through: UVa 3, Miami 0 (1st Qtr.)
After a questionable spot on a third down play, Virginia was forced to punt. That worked better than anyone could have imagined. Jimmy Howell’s punt landed short and bounced off the shin of Travis Benjamin and into the hands of Virginia’s Hall Simmons. The Cavaliers moved the ball into the red zone thanks to Cedric Peerman, but the drive stalled and Reyering came on to boot the field goal through from the right hash mark. ... Virginia’s opponents this season are 42-24, tops among ACC schools. Only Washington has played a tougher schedule. ... At what point does Virginia get credit for helping USC out in regards to the BCS standings? Ohio State certainly did not last week against Penn State.
