Virginia lands a lefty

Posted on 12/26 at 02:58 AM

Aaron Stull, a left-handed pitcher from Croatan High in North Carolina, inked a National Letter-of-Intent to play baseball at the University of Virginia.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 171 pounds, Stull was a three-sport standout and was sought after by numerous schools in baseball and football, although he never wavered on his desire to play baseball.
“It’s just surreal,“ Stull told a newspaper in Jacksonville, N.C. “It’s finally happening. I’m glad to get it over with. I finally know where I’m going. I’m excited to go there. I know they’re good. I just hope I can help them some way.“

Stull told the newspaper that he was offered almost a half-ride and that the remaining money would be covered with financial aid.

“As a player, he’s still kind of raw right now,“ said coach Scott Shutts. “But I’m sure there were a lot of schools out there that were looking at him and hoping they could get their hands on him.“

Virginia did not announce its recruiting class, a measure that may remain commonplace. Releasing the names of the class gives Major League Baseball scouts a headstart.
