Wide right: USC 24, Virginia 7 (2nd Qtr)

Virginia appeared headed for a score after USC lost a fumble on a punt return. That was not to be after some strange play-calling from Mike Groh.
The Cavs, after using the pass to move the ball, tried to run the ball. That appears near impossible against USC’s NFL-like defense. These dudes are scary and they hit hard. Rumor has it that the Boogie Man was too scared to come to the game today because of the USC linebackers.
Reyering had enough leg on the kick. Maybe he even had a little too much. Scott Deke was in for the hold and Reyering appeared to relate something to the reserve QB after the kick sailed right.

I gotta say, during the first quarter Virginia looked completely over matched and out-classed. They’re pulling it together, though. Lalich is starting to look a little less like the QB who blew the Gator Bowl, but it’s hard to watch him play and not see a big INT coming at any moment. He needs to stop starting at his primary receive. If the team can play mistake-free football during the second half and can get a few breaks they might keep it close.
