The Cavaliers will be making their fourth trip to the Atlanta Bowl. Virginia’s first-ever bowl appearance came in the game, formerly known as the Peach Bowl, by defeating Big 10 runner-up Purdue in 1984. In that game, Virginia defeated the Jim Everett-led Boilermakers 27-24 at old Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium.

UVa also scored one of its most dramatic wins ever in the 1995 Peach Bowl at the Georgia Dome when the Cavaliers defeated Georgia, 34-27, when Pete Allen returned a late kickoff for the winning touchdown.

The Cavaliersreturned to the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in 1998 and lost to Georgia 35-23.

Virginia has played Auburn twice, both during the George Welsh era. The Cavaliers lost to the Tigers in Scott Stadium, 28-17 in 1997, the same night that Ronald Curry committed to the Wahoos before the game.
The Cavaliers traveled to Auburn the following season and shut out the TIgers, 19-0.
