Winter Issue 2009 Out Now

With winter around the corner staffers at Charlottesville Woman bore the burden of testing beauty products to create a gift guide for you. It was a huge sacrifice, too. Ha! We had a great time and found wonderful products that we think you should try…or leave the magazine open and products circled (in red) for your significant other (we wouldn’t want them to misunderstand your subtle hints).
Finding balance is something we all strive for as we juggle all aspects of our lives. Sometimes we can do it effortlessly and sometimes we drop the ball When I drop the ball, and it happens at least once a day, I forgive myself and wake up again the next day ready to juggle the balls again; hoping that if anyone throws a cleaver into the mix I catch it by the handle rather than the blade. We include tips this issue on how to create balance in your own life.
The five women we profile in this magazine are representative of the thousands of daughters, mothers, wives and girlfriends who return to school each year and begin to wear yet another hat each day: student. They all juggle children, significant others, jobs and class schedules. If they can do it, so can you.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Louise Putnam, a Charlottesville mother of three, shares her story of survival with us as we as remember all those who are still battling the disease. Her inspiring story made me re-examine my priorities.
Remember to read the office party etiquette guide before the holiday season gets in full swing…and remember to not be that girl this year. And if you see one at your next soiree, help her discreetly. She’ll hate herself the next day.
I have had a great time meeting many of you Charlottesville women. Keep in touch with us through our blog, by email cwmag(at)dailyprogress.com and on twitter (at)cwmag. We want to hear from you. Send ideas for stories, calendar events, snapshots of goings-on, and general feedback.
