“Top Chef,“ “Iron Chef,“ “Hell’s Kitchen,“ wacky cooking shows have a special place in my heart. I blame Public Broadcasting and my mother, for filling my early childhood with “Yan Can Cook” and Julia Child (whose signature “bon appetit“ I butchered into “bone apple tea,“ which still sends my mother into hysterics.)

imageSo I’m super excited for the Taste of Home cooking school Homemade for the Holidays event tomorrow night (Nov. 13) at the Augusta Expoland in Fishersville. I’f you’ve ever experienced the seasonal stress (and who hasn’t) of making holiday treats while scrambling to buy gifts, decorating the home, staying on top of greeting cards, and managing the end-of-the-year crunch at work, this show is for you. Culinary specialists will demonstrate quick and easy recipes, so you can try some new treats at home without stumbling through an unfamiliar recipe.

Tickets are available in advance for $12 at “The Daily Progress” in Charlottesville and “The News Virginian” in Waynesboro, or $15 at the door. Doors open at 4:30 and the show starts at 6:30.
