Was it a hell week for anyone else? Hell month? As a fabulous co-worker said to Bethany as an April Fool’s joke, “You look tired. Like you’ve been through the ringer. Like you’ve just been through a 31-day March.“
Tonight I’m kicking off the first weekend of a new month with a trip to Whole Foods for 5@5, the best wine tasting event in town. For a donation of $5 to the month’s participating non-profit (MS150 for April), you get a sampling of five wines paired with a generous sample of prepared food. The tasting tables are staffed by the non-profit, so it’s also a great chance to learn more about how the organization serves the community.
Tonight I’m most looking forward to Hogue Cellars’ late harvest riesling - its apricot and powdered sugar notes should pair beautifully with the chocolate poundcake with raspberries and whipped cream served with it.
The event is from 5 to 7 p.m., consider it an appetizer and pick up a grainy loaf of bread, some cheese, or fresh fruit to complement your dinner while you’re there.
