Blue Ridge Bells perform for Boys and Girls Club
This is the second time I’ve been lucky enough to hear a group of bell ringers.
I was invited to document the performance of C.F. Richards Junior Academy’s Blue Ridge Bells and their performance for the Boys and Girls Club in Waynesboro on Dec. 10. Those kids did such a good job; the youth at the club sat very still, intently paying attention to the other children performing in front of them.
Group director Mdany Wightman asked the children in the audience what grades they were in and went through the musical group introducing children from the various school’s grade levels, showing the audience that they too, could be musicians if they were so inclined.
The Blue Ridge Bells are waiting currently to hear from a contact in the Democratic party regarding the group’s request to play for President-elect Obama during his inauguration on Jan. 20. News as to whether they have been accepted to play will be published as soon as it is received.
The group played for President George Bush’s inauguration four years ago.
If haven’t heard the Blue Ridge Bells yet and would like a sample, click here to view a rough view of their Dec. 10 performance (sorry, this was my first video!)
