Well, it’s been an up and down week with the ol’ girl.

We haven’t had another poopy incident, thank goodness! But we have had two incidents of running away, one is going on as we converse here now.

The first time, Sunday, she scooted past Jim and I at the back door. After tracking her for about 2 hours, we finally opted to come in out of the cold, cold night. He said she’d be back. I wasn’t so sure.

I’d been planning on calling Kay’s roommate to give her an update on how Mazie was doing. Now what was I going to tell her? Actually, Jane said that Mazie’d always come back when she took off on Kay - except for the time she smelled a barbecue. The man working the grill brought her back.

About 5 minutes after hanging up with Jane, she returned. Boy did she get scolded. And of course, that sad face was constantly looking at us.

It seemed like she was getting used to being at our house with us. But her sneaking out past Jim again this evening has me wondering.

We’ve definitely figured out, she loves to run. So against my better judgement, I’ve been considering some sort of line out in the back yard, so she can - and we don’t have to be there for her to do it.

But since our development only allows “indoor” dogs, she will only get short spurts of being “free” enough to run; about a half hour at a time. We’ll see how that goes.

Well, this is a shortie for now. Got to get home and see if I can get her to come in with a hotdog.
