Democrat Rebuttal

I seem to have missed a whole lot about the Iraq War in the state of the union speech, but I am pleased to report that we kept the neighborhood safe from squirrels. Now, I’m just waiting around for the Democratic response. Barrack Obama has already “prebutted” Bush’s speech before he heard it, writing no doubt and early-release copies of the recital.

In the meantime, let’s waste some time by switching between the channels: On Fox, where everything is fair and balanced, they’re dousing the Democrats, discussing Nancy Pelosi’s lip movements during the Iraq talk, saying she’s mumbling “that’s not enough” and debating if that’s what she said. If you ask me, she said “huh? What? Should I stand?”

Fox is fair and balanced all right, as long as you’re a Republican.

Over to CNN—oops, they’ve switched to Kathleens Psoriasis or Sebatious or something like that....

10:17 p.m. She says we’re not divided as much as our politics suggest. I’m not divided at all. I know I’m right....Hey, she wants to do an American response ... The economy needs action. People can’t pay bills, are losing jobs and maybe their homes. Yup. She’s got that right....She says we can get real results. Sounds like a diet infomercial....She wants us all to work together. Fine. What should we do?

10:22 p.m.: Kansas folks are rebuilding their town. Uh, OK. What’s that got to do with Iraq? Green towns, green buildings, green, green, green. What’s the point? It’s time to get to work....

10:24 p.m. She wants to fight a more effective war on terror. What’s that mean? She wants to pull out all of the troops and do what? How do you fight a war we’ve started and can lose big time if we pull everyone out? What’s the plan, man? Give me specifics. We’ve already put our faith in Bush in the war and what did it get us? Give us IDEAS, not platitudes…

10:27 p.m.: OK, this is lame. The president was pretty lame, rehashing and saying the same things and the Hon. Gov. is pretty lame. She’s not saying much of anything here. I hear a lot of sharing and coming together but I’d kill for one “Bush, you ignorant twit. This is what we need to do ...” not “gee, let’s all get together and sleep well and gosh, let’s get to work.”

Lame.
