Dogs good; cats evil

Finally, there is proof offered by the Internet and legitimate news reporting agencies that dogs are truly a person’s best friend and cats are simply fur-bearing parasites clawing the couch and lapping up milk.

Consider this story from Argentina: A poor, hungry dog who barely kept her family fed is keeping faith with her puppies when she hears the cry of a newborn baby.

The baby—and this is a sad commentary on the affects of poverty on women, especially teens who are often abused, manipulated and exploited—was left by a 14-year-old mother who gave birth and panicked, leaving the baby behind as the temperature dipped toward the upper 30s.

The dog, named La China, heard the cries and brought the 8-pound, 13-ounce baby boy some 150 feet to her den where she placed it with her puppies and kept the baby warm and safe until the morning.

It’s not the first report, either. Consider this from 2005, in Kenya. Same scenario. Same story.

Face it, dogs care. They are sweet, kind, loving creatures with service and kindness to all mankind their only mission in life, as opposed to cats.

You won’t find any stories where a common cat actually saved a human. Cats are not known for running into burning houses to get their people or attacking intruders to protect their home. Google cat and save and baby and you find ads for cat save baby at Amazon.com and that’s about it. Cats don’t care about you, unless you’re feeding them.

What you can find is the old folktale of how cats suck the breath out of children, leaving them dead in the craddle. You will read stories about cats sleeping on infant faces and chests, suffocating the children.  And, you may just find a little scientific research backing it up that came out of Norway. Seems cats really can kill kids.

So, if you’re going to feed and house and clean carpets and yards and fuzz off of your best Sunday suit, you may as well do it for an animal that may, some day return the favor.

That would be a dog.

OK, discuss among yourselves…..
