Hallelujah is the Word

I’m perusing the headlines this morning over a cup of decaf while recovering from a bizarre Halloween awakening by a malfunctioning iPod, it’s amplified speaker system and Leonard Cohen’s gravely voice singing one word over and over again: “Hallelujah.”

Growth Key Issue for White Hall Seat says one line over a story on the Albemarle County Supervisors race. Well, hallelujah, someone finally figured that out. It’s not just about the White Hall seat either, it’s about the entire board, the school board, the water and sewer authority, the city boards, the city council. Growth is the guacamole on our community enchilada. What happens in the dirt will dictate our future job base, traffic network, commute times, grocery bills and living style.

Changing of the Foliage on Pause Hallelujah, the drought and the warm, wonderful weather is holding fall off until November. It’s been a great month for motorcycling, for hanging outdoors at night and for seriously beginning to worry that all of this global warming talk is, like, right now. I don’t like cold weather but 80 degrees throughout October is crazy. We need to do something, now. Quick, call Al Gore.

Water Authority Says Area Drought Still a Concern We’re running out of water. There is no relief in sight. Predictions vary from an average wet winter to a drier than normal winter. We have barely enough water to meet our peak demands with our current population on a good day and we’re packing another 16,000 folks in her in the next few years. Hallelujah are we in trouble.

Attempted Murder Case Certified A woman is accused of being drunk and trying to smother her invalid mother with a pillow as she lay in a nursing home bed. I’m speechless. (Hallelujah!)
