Looking for Mr. Good News
![]()
It’s been a long couple of days with computer-generated frustrations and plumbing debacles, and all I want is to scan my screen for a little pick-up, a little dollop o’ whip cream for the day. So, for a little good news, where else should I turn but the purveyor of all things newsy, the Associated Press?
Let’s see here. Spanning the globe I see more tainted milk in China with more heads to roll; 30 whales on the beach in Australia; Icelandic police tear-gassing Icelandic protesters who are upset that the nation’s economy is, well, frozen and Hamas dismissing reconciliation talks with Fatah. Hey, why would they want to reunite their country when they’re doing such a fine job running it now?

Moving to the national scene: We’ve had so much fun and good feeling out of DC that, maybe, there’s some happy news in our homeland.
Or maybe not: Two teens are busted in Minnesota for groping, slapping and spanking senior citizens suffering dementia. Maybe someone else should get slapped and spanked, eh?
Southwest Airlines had a bad fourth quarter last year, like everyone else and Wall Street.
Freaking Wall Street! At one time in this dirt dog’s life, Wall Street was The Canine, the dog to whom the little dust puppies of this country proffered portions of their Milk Bones for safe keeping. Turns out the big dog was eating our kibble and, when that ran out, went to President Dawg in the White House and the prima donna purebreds in the Pound of Congress to get more. Now we little dogs are left to scrounge garbage cans and the cat’s dish for our dinners.
Makes me want to bite someone on the rump.
Here in Virginia, there’s a 19-year-old sailor who will serve 15 years in prison for smacking a baby, a fatal stabbing in Fairfax and a Virginia Tech student slain on campus.
You know, I think I’ll go to YouTube and watch reruns of Tuesday’s fun. That may be the most excitement of a positive sort that we have for awhile.
