No good news

I’m a news hound, although maybe not a pure bred, and I sniff out news. Lately, however, news seems to smell worse and worse.

The pungent odor of federal agents yanking motorcycles off the sales floor because kids might get lead poisoning from chewing on the engines; furloughs and lay offs at local companies, including mine; rising costs of gas and food and huge stimulus packages passed by Congress put me in the need for some good news.

I checked the Associated Press international wire but found nothing except death and destruction and people maiming each other because of their race, their gender or their religion. I checked the national wire and found pedophiles, murder trials, and bad economic news. I checked the state wire and found felony child abuse, child killings and a guy waiting to die in the electric chair.

That, decidedly, is not good news.

So, brave dog that I am, I Googled “Good news” and found the “Good News Network,“ an organization dedicated to nothing but good news. I clicked on the link and waited and waited.

The Web site could not be displayed.

Guess I’m going to have to go make my own.
