Tomorrow is the day.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 16, you Riders of the Lunatic Fringe need to fold up your three-piece and your double-breasted and put it neatly in a your stowaway, be it a backpack, saddlebag or tank bag, and ride the scoot to work.

We are making a show of force and force it is. There are more of us all of the time. You can see us parked in the downtown parking garage or the parking lots, lined up sport bike to cruiser to scooter to standard. We are people saving money, people using saving money as an excuse and people who have taken the fringe to work for years.

We ride bizarre contraptions like the Can Am Spyder, a three-wheeled vehicle with the wheels out in front that has motorcycle controls but a whole different feel.

We ride Piaggio MP-3s, a three-wheeled vehicle that steers exactly like a motorcycle but sits like a scooter.

We ride Gold Wings and Hayabusas and Magnas and Dukes and Blasts.

We also have fun and when it comes to fun, the more the merrier. So Take your scoot to work. Take it to lunch. Tell everyone about it. Let them sit on it and kick the wheels and make vroom-noises. Most important, take it to work on Thursday, Friday and Monday and Tuesday and…you get the idea.
