They’re Almost Here

Look out Charlottesville, Greene’s a growing. Just got back from a quick blast up 29 into Greene near my old stomping grounds on Rt. 670 (I refuse to call it Preddy Creek Road just because I’m that way) and I gotta warn my new city that Greenies are going to be everywhere.

Holly Hills is a growing on one side of 29 and a commercial development is on the other and hundreds and hundreds of homes are sprouting out of the ground like Chernobyl daffodils in March. Heck, where I used to live in one house and a garage is four houses now, including the garage being converted into a single-family dwelling.

Considering that there aren’t that many industries, businesses or forms of employment to support incomes that would fit into these large houses, that can only mean commuters.

Yes, Charlottesville, they’ll be driving into town and down Rio Road and Park Street. They’ll be driving out of town via U.S. 250 Bypass and 29 North. They’ll flood Rt. 20 and Proffitt Road and Fray’s Mill Road. They’ll be here soon, judging from the number of homes and the infrastructure already in the subdivisions. They’ll have no where to go, no 29 Bypass, no Meadowcreek Parkway, no Eastern Connector to stay out of the way of those of us who live in town.
