Albemarle boys lacrosse stays unbeaten in Commonwealth

Following a double overtime victory on the road at North Stafford on Wednesday, Albemarle returned home to knock off Mountain View 15-3 on Thursday and remain undefeated on the season (11-0, 9-0 Commonwealth District).
After a 1-1 first quarter, AHS kicked it into high gear in the second, scoring eight goals to lead 9-2 at halftime. Albemarle capitalized when a Wildcats player was called for a three-minute non-releasable penalty, scoring four goals in two minutes.
Brent Montgomery scored four goals and dished out two assists, and sophomore Connor McCullough had a hat trick with three goals and had five assists to lead the Patriots in that category. Bernie Mowbray added three goals and two assists.
“Those guys did a nice job moving the ball a lot faster,” said head coach Pat McAdams. “They found the open spot when they had the opportunity.”
The Pats have had a target on their back all season, and they will now face a tough Collegiate team on Monday night at home. McAdams and his team are looking forward to the challenge.
“Collegiate is probably the toughest opponent we will face in the regular season this year, and they could be one of the best teams in the state,” said McAdams. “It doesn’t mean much in terms of the playoffs, but we’re looking at that game to win it, not just play in it.”
