Jefferson District expansion

The Jefferson District will soon be getting a new member—Goochland County. The Group A school, which is currently part of the James River District, will move up to Group AA status. According to Goochland athletic director Bryan Gordon, the change will take place during the 2009-10 school year.
Goochland already plays Jefferson District schools Fluvanna and Louisa—both of which border the county. Recently the school has added others in the district, such as William Monroe and Charlottesville, to its schedule to see how it stacks up against the competition.
“We will be the smallest school in the Jefferson and we know it is going to be a real challenge, but are looking to forward to it,“ Gordon said.
