STAB lax star preparing for her next career

St. Anne’s-Belfield senior Addi Bolin sure knows how to stay busy. She’s earned All-America honors on the lacrosse field and is also a standout basketball player for the Saints. She’s the football team manager, worked in some time for a recruiting trip to George Washington University—where she’ll play lacrosse next year—and snowboards for fun. Somehow she found time for one more after-school activity, an internship on Inbounds with Mac McDonald.

Just about everything Bolin is doing should pay off down the line as she aspires to a career in broadcasting. Bolin, who uses the radio name Addison Blair, said she wants to work as a television sideline reporter someday and her experience with a variety of sports should help. Now, she’s also getting broadcast experience working on Inbounds which is broadcast locally weekdays from 3-6 p.m. on WKAV (AM 1400) and several other stations across the state.

“Addi is very talented in many areas and a supreme overachiever,“ McDonald said. “Not only is she learning the media business, playing lacrosse at a high level which is evident by her D-1 scholarship offer, but she will be singing the national anthem at a STAB football game.  If I saw Addi driving the team bus it wouldn’t surprise me.“

Bolin said that in her couple of weeks on the job McDonald has been a great teacher.

“It’s really fun and he makes it so I’m not nervous at all,“ Bolin said. “I’m going to be working with him to train my voice so I can do score reports. Maybe next week or the week after I can get up to that level.“

She said that so far the young school year has offered multiple experiences that could help her as a future sportscaster.

“Being around football like that helps a lot,“ Bolin said. “I’ve learned a lot about the sport. Football and basketball I think would be really fun to do. I’d do any sports. I know a lot about lacrosse, so I could do that too.“
