And the Grammy goes to ... Ann Marie

Woo hoo!
Good news for one local musician at last night’s Grammy Awards.
Ann Marie Calhoun won the My Grammy Moment Contest sponsored by YouTube and earned the right to perform with the Foo Fighters live on stage Sunday night.
Style, talent and grace. The Gordonsville violinist rocks!
Which is more than I can say for my Grammy moment.
The Daily Progress seven-member panel of Grammy prognosticators pretty much sucked.
OK, maybe Jedd Ferris deserves a mild kudo. Our music writer won the pick-the-winner contest by correctly predicting six of 13 categories. I tied entertainment editor Jane Norris and lifestyles writer David Maurer with a woeful four right, narrowly beating comic master Ben Wood and our special guest, DJ Mike Relm, with three right. To be fair, the DJ might have gotten a couple of more wins, but opted to go with “undecided” in the country album and R&B album categories.
Undecided hardly ever wins.
Did I mention there were seven members of the panel? Our music reviewer. Newsman Josh Barney rounded out the competi-tion with two right.
We all got skunked on Album of the Year, Rock Album and R&B Album.
I should have known that the Foo Fighters would have the best rock band. They certainly won the best violinist.
