OK, so I lied about my vacation starting today. So here’s a few things I’m thankful, and not thankful for, to tide you over until Monday. You know, when high school basketball season starts.
The column last week on the firing of longtime Fort Defiance football coach Dale Spitzer elicited plenty of comments via phone calls and e-mails. Some nice. Some not so nice.
One in particular caught my attention from someone calling themselves “formerfencer.“ I think Mr. or Mrs. Fencer completely missed the boat of what I was trying to say.
Though I’m not a huge fan of gambling, I’ll admit I’m a huge fan of Las Vegas. I’m also a huge Fresca fan because there’s nothing I like more than the cool, crisp, citrus refreshment in a can.
Seriously folks, Fresca is that good.
What? We’re just supposed to forget about him because his high school football career is over?
What? He’s not supposed to be easy to remember as the years pass by and our memories become clouded with age and country air?
Welcome back Dae’ Quan Scott. Lee fans missed you. Something tells us Liberty-Bedford and, this week, Brookville won’t be sending you any welcome-back gifts any time soon.
Toggling between the butt-numbing bleachers and standing against a fence, I watched Justin Verlander give up one hit and lose to Clarke County. I watched Jake Peeling wrap his dad in a hug after pitching a no-hitter.
