Because if there’s anything anybody who has ever walked the sidelines at Fort Defiance knows, it’s that this school has its full share of numskull fans that enjoy making a coach’s life a living hell.

Sometimes, Staunton can seem like a world gone crazy. Or one that chooses to wear blinders.
And, no, that’s not sarcasm aimed toward one of the most electrifying football players most of the city of Staunton has never seen.
It’s the truth. Because after first saying he was going to go to University of Richmond and throwing an oral commitment down Interstate 64, on Monday, R.E. Lee’s Dae’ Quan Scott said, nah, he’s changed his mind and he thinks James Madison University is a better fit.
So we know that both of President Barack Obama’s kids are attending Sidwell Friends school in Bethesda, Md.
We know this, despite the fact, that Sasha, 7, and Malia, 10, have a father that many consider to be the leader of the free world. We know that the school is located just a few miles outside the district.

One team actually. Or, at least one team that may need to see a shrink to help decipher its multiple personalities.
And while Paul Hatcher, the Alpha and Omega of high school basketball in the area, usually takes care of the business himself, this time some extra help may be needed. Because it’s tough to get a handle on this latest version of talent under Hatcher’s thumb at R.E. Lee.

Toggling between the butt-numbing bleachers and standing against a fence, I watched Justin Verlander give up one hit and lose to Clarke County. I watched Jake Peeling wrap his dad in a hug after pitching a no-hitter.
