It’s early Saturday and, you know Augusta County, I got some thoughts.
And yes, I’m going to go ahead and assume that when I type, “Augusta County” you realize I also mean Waynesboro and Staunton. I reject your “boundaries” when it comes to football. Sue me.
But I digress.

In a gym filled with purple socks, purple shirts and mourning hearts the Wilson Memorial volleyball team proved one thing and one thing only.
It’s the team to beat in Augusta County.

It’s Friday (or so my computer reads) which means there’s football tonight (eh, maybe thanks to the rain) and I know who’s winning these games (probably).

It’s no secret that the Wilson Memorial volleyball team can no longer play the youth card in the high-stakes game of Region B volleyball.
But that doesn’t mean coach Kim Claytor has to like talking about it. Instead, the fiery coach with the red-hair to match her on-court personality said she doesn’t talk about it much with her Green Hornets, if at all.
I don’t pretend to know everything. OK, maybe I do pretend to know it all. But here’s a list of some things I’m pretty sure I know.
Toggling between the butt-numbing bleachers and standing against a fence, I watched Justin Verlander give up one hit and lose to Clarke County. I watched Jake Peeling wrap his dad in a hug after pitching a no-hitter.
