Second quarter
Lee starts the second quarter down 20-4.
And the ball starts in their hands. Thompson to inbound and here we go.
Mickens walks it up. To Thompson back to Mickens, to K. Scott who’s blocked and Crawford is blocked and it’s Lee’s ball.
Mickens miss, and here comes the Eagles. Dionna Scott another bucket.
And Lee tries to get something going here and Kendra Scott is blocked again. Ball stays in Lee’s hands. Crawford breaks the scoring drought and it;s 22-7 with 6:35 left in the half. Freedom presses but Lee breaks through but turns it over.
Here comes Freedom and Dionna Scott is stripped. Lee ball.
Lee’s lack of height is hurting them here, let’s see what they do.
Mickens to Thompson and K. Scott is stuffed again. That’s four blocks for Freedom. And Porter sticks back her own miss.
Lee ball, nifty move by Mickens for a layup makes it 24-8, but Kasey Buchanan is fouled and heads to the line. She hits the first and the second. It’s 26-8 Freedom.
And Mickens is tied up and the arrow is heading Freedom’s way.
Here comes Freedom. And the Eagles turn it over. Ball back to Lee and McDonough inbounds to D.Scott who finds Mickens and she works it up. But is called for a walk.
Koditek jumper and McDonough is fouled bringing the ball up. She’ll inbound it at midcourt, finds Mickens and freshman walks it up.
Thompson is blocked and that’s five for Freedom. Hartman is on one knee and looks perplexed by the current situation. The Lee Ladies can’t get anything going at all, but shooting 14.3 percent (2-14) in the first quarter will do that to a coach. His Lee Ladies have fared no better with 3:57 left in the second stanza.
Mickens to inbound underneath as soon as TV lets us get this game going again. Lee almost turns it over on the inbounds. But its back to the Lee. D. Scott drives but can’t get past the 6-foot-3 Buchanan.
Porter with a jumper, another Lee turnover and tie up goes to Lee. McDonough inbounds to Mickens and she finds D. Scott who makes the layup. It’s now 30-10 Freedom.
Thompson layup for Lee now ... nevermind ... Dionna Scott hits a 3 to settle Freedom down a bit.
Mickens drives and hits a layup, now 33-14 Freedom.
And Freedom takes a timeout. With 1:40 left to play it’s Freedom 33, R.E. Lee 14.
Mickens pushes it up and D. Scott bullies her way through the lane where she’s fouled on the layup attempt. She head to the line for two, hits the first and makes the second. 33-16 Freedom.
Porter with another long two, and Mickens brings it up.
Miss by D. Scott and it’s out to Freedom.
Freedom singaling to hold the ball for the final shot of the half. We’re under 30 ticks left, Dionna Scott dribbles it around, takes it to the land and hits the layup.
That’s how the half will end with Lee down 37-16.
