Sigh ... Internet trolls insulting players without the facts

OK, so the Internet trolls who have nothing better to do than make up stories and spread rumors and innuendo about local high school athletes should stay quiet now. After speculation all weekend on VirginiaPreps.com‘s message boards, the Daily News Record out of Harrisonburg is reporting that Blue Streak Alex Owah is, in fact, hurt.

This coming days after a couple of know-nothing numbnuts on the message boards speculated the only thing Owah hurt was his Pride Muscle and he was, wait for it, “faking” his injury.

So, yeah, I guess what we’re saying here is, “Geez, fellas. It’s just a kid. Lay off of them until you know the facts.“ You know, facts, not biased accusations that border on absurdity.

Owah’s injury, which may keep him out of Friday’s game against Stuarts Draft adds a new dynamic to this contest for the Cougars. Actually, it takes away a big dynamic they had to worry about, right? I mean, if I’m going to play the Blue Streaks in Harrisonburg and I want a shot to win, I’m thanking my lucky stars if Owah is on the bench. But, after all, this is a Cougar team that beat Harrisonburg in 2008. Sans 14 players and home-field advantage, however.

Back to the trolls: The last thing I’m doing is going online and questioning this kid’s heart. Sure, we know Al Groh has no problems throwing his quarterback under the bus, but we’re pretty sure he knows what he’s doing by getting Owah to verbally commit to him. And I can’t imagine a Division I school the likes of U.Va. is going to recruit a kid with no heart.

But hey, thanks for playing message-board trolls. Now go blog about how hot you were at a game or something, since you don’t seem to be the ones that play the games anyway. (And there’s a lot of that going around these days.)

More on Waynesboro fans acting nothing like fans:

From the mail trough

I am so glad you are addressing this issue although using “Waynesboro Fans” is a bit much.

Well, sorry, but that’s what they are. When you scream and yell things at the coaches and players—for your team for crying out loud—the least those folks deserve is quotes around what they claim to be.

Please stop writing negative things about the fans and administration at Waynesboro. FYI, the school’s in the county don’t do everything right.

Well that’s just dumb. I’m aware the county schools don’t do it all right. You know like this or this or maybe this. Wait, forgot about this. Can I get back to real e-mails now? Thanks.

From VirginiaPreps.com message board

Seems like most of their venom is directed at the coaches. Too bad those idiots couldn’t trade places for one day - they couldn’t handle it. Maybe you can get someone to read your column to them.

Well, that last sentence is good enough to steal.

Updated Power Rankings right here tomorrow. As always, keep the e-mails coming. (And, you know, it wouldn’t hurt to add a comment or two on the blog every now and again. I’m just saying.)

One last question: How do you say “season sweep” if you’re a Group A school? Think Wilson knows the answer to that.
