So, what did you Friday?

Because all the Fort Defiance girls track team did was shut the naysayers up, look at the R.E. Lee girls track team—a heavily favored R.E. Lee girls team at that—and say, “No, not yours,“ and win coach Dave Stewart his sixth district championship in three sports the past two school years.

(And, while we’re typing about Stewart, let’s ask, for bloguments sake, if he’s bottled what he drinks? Because, gosh-dangit, it’s working.)

No surprise here, they overtook the Lee Ladies in the distance events with, again, no surprise here, Whitney Fulk finally giving the Indians the edge in the 3,200. (Oh yeah, and Annie Everett finished fifth to pad the lead.)

It was a win that had Stewart speechless and, when he did speak, he was stuttering with excitement. I mean, the guy didn’t know what to say for a good minute or so before finally taking a deep breath.

“My cup runneth over,“ he said. “That’s, that’s, that’s it. Yeah, I’m speechless.“

Yeah, can you top that? Of course not. Stop trying.

Because all Jessica Miller did was win a Southern Valley District individual tennis title, finish second in the doubles with teammate Jamee Hardison then head on over to Waynesboro and score herself a regional berth in track.

So, yeah, what did you do again? Watch the Nationals lose then assuming, during the height of district playoffs, that people care enough about that team to blog on it?

Because all R.E. Lee’s Dae’Quan Scott did was win the long jump (with flair and style) all the while trying to contain his excitment about heading to James Madison University this summer to play football.

“I can’t wait,“ he said.

So, you did what again?

Because all Waynesboro’s BJ Johnson did win the triple jump in his first year of jumping over teammate and longtime friend Terrell Thompson. The two battled each other. And we mean “battled” (seriously, this is not hyperbole, folks) and switched spots on their final jumps with Thompson beating Johnson on his last sail and Johnson returning the favor and one-upping Thompson with his final jump.

“It’s my last year, senior year, and I’m trying to go out with a blast,“ he said.

Hard feelings? Nah. All Thompson did was smile and yell, “Why you talking to him?“ while his buddy was getting interviewed by the media.

Yeah, so you did what again?

Because all the Riverheads baseball team did was erase that horrid performance in what could have been a district-clinching game against Buffalo Gap, regroup and slap Stonewall Jackson 15-4 in the Shenandoah District quarterfinals.

So, you did ... ?

Because all Waynesboro’s Ali Zook did was notch her first career hat trick (That’s three goals for those of you who wear the blinders and only watch baseball during the spring) which helped the Little Giants win the Southern Valley District regular season in a one-game playoff with R.E. Lee.

“We worked really hard this week so I was proud to show that it paid off,“ she said.

Um, yeah. Ya, think?

Again, you did what?

Sure you did. There, there. Sure you did.
