Some random questions

It’s Wednesday, I have some questions that you may, or may not, have answers to.

Did anybody think, after last season’s trip down the drain, that the Little Giants volleyball team would be sitting at 5-2 in the Southern Valley District?

Who’s to thank for this?

Is it Lori Aleshire finally getting results in her second season?

Is it Rachel Binda morphing into, not only the best player on the court, but a leader?

Or is it they’re finally playing as a team?

And what about Stuarts Draft football?

Seriously, wasn’t this team supposed to be scraping the bottom of the barrel of the Southern Valley after losing 14 seniors? And when will Rod Bowers, the coach everybody points to as the reason the Cougars will remain a factor for the time being, start taking credit for it?

And another thing, how about R.E. Lee football? Is there a more exciting team to watch in the area?

Did Terrell Mickens really think he was returning that onside kick back for a score? Did you honestly expect Draft’s Bowers, stunned that the kid made a play like that, call his name, walk out to almost midfield and bow his way?

Honestly, when was the last time you saw that happen in a football game? Yes, both the return on the onside kick and the opposing coach bowing.

And what’s with all you people wanting to chastise R.E. Lee football for being “unsportsmanlike” because they stood on the field as Stuarts Draft came out Friday? Really, are your feelings that easily hurt that, when you saw the Leemen jumping up and down next to them, you had to cry about it? Come on, really? Did I miss something? Isn’t this football? What’s wrong with this?

The Leemen backed up their not-in-our-house posturing with a 35-20 win, right? Weren’t the Leemen looking forward to scoring some revenge after the Cougars dumped them out of Region III play last year?

Didn’t that posturing by the Leemen fire up the Cougars? Wasn’t Bowers trolling the sideline screaming that if that didn’t fire up his Cougars, then they didn’t have any heart? And this is a bad thing how? Did I miss any punches getting thrown? (No, because none were.) Did I miss flags flying because of this? (No, because none were thrown.)

Did you miss the players, you know, the ones that actually play the game, take the hits and dish them out, shaking hands afterward? Did they seem hurt by this?

Isn’t this football again? If you’re so against this posturing, then wouldn’t you be more comfortable at a competition cheer meet?

Again, isn’t this football?

Is anybody out of the Southern Valley beating Brookville in Region III?

And the problem with Game 2 in seemingly every match you play in is what, Green Hornets volleyball team? Do you honestly think you’ll make it out of Region B with a mid-match hiccup? When will this be fixed? Soon?
