We’re live at the Siegel Center

Yeah, yeah, we have no video. And yeah, yeah, we can’t Webcast the game. But we’re going to bring you the next best thing—live blogging.

The drive down to Richmond was uneventful if not boring. But, then again, I did it by myself and,  really, who likes driving by themselves? (OK, I kind of do, but let us digress.)

At milemarker 166 on Interstate 64 I ran into the Lord Botetourt caravan about 15 cars and SUVs strong, replete with “Go Cavs” and whatnot painted on windows and enough stickers to make a 16-year-old’s Trapper Keeper look like bare canvas. (Question: Do they still use Trapper Keepers?)

I entered the Siegel Center just as the boys Group AA, Division 3 semifinal was kicking off between Brunswick and Greensville County and, just to my left in the stands sat the Lee Ladies and coach Jeremy Hartman. They looked relaxed, and not bug-eyed at the size of this cavernous basketball court.

Just before the second quarter of the boys game started, Hartman stood up and the rest of the Lee Ladies followed suit, no doubt heading back to the locker room or some other quiet area (good luck finding that, it’s always crazy in here for state playoffs, duh!) to get their game plan together.

Right now it’s 17-14 Brunswick with the Lee Ladies and Lord Botetourt set to tip-off sometime around 3 p.m.

Check back, we’ll have more free-thinking ramblings as game time draws near then we’ll kick it off with written play-by-play.

E-mail me at with any questions and/or comments and I’ll do my best to make sure they’re answered.
