Upon Further Review
The Bison look every bit as good as they did last year with a strong running game (thank Pickle Nuckols for that) and one very quick wide out and defensive back (that would be Michael Johnson). Will they miss QB Travis Morris down the stretch? We’ll see. But right now, this team is tops in the area, having won 22 straight.

When a team runs only 10 first-half plays and heads into the locker room with a 23-10 lead, well, that kind of says it all right there. Friday night at Rockbridge is a game you don’t want to miss, no matter whom you root for.

It took one half against Stonewall to get the Gladiators’ run offense going, but, as usual, once it starts it’s tough to stop. The Pride must avoid a letdown this week against Luray, otherwise that Halloween Night battle with Gap doesn’t mean much.

No doubt the Cougars took the bye week to work on some issues that were clearly visible during their loss to R.E. Lee. Mainly tackling and drive-killing penalties. A date with Fort Defiance may be just what the doctor ordered.

Now this was the Waynesboro team we had been hearing all about all season long but never saw (and no, we’re not going to count the Covington game, sorry). Hey, the offense was great Friday against Fort, but that game was won on defense. Know a better way for a struggling team to enter the bye week other than a win? Thought so.

All season we thought this team was better than it was playing. They proved us wrong at Waynesboro on Friday.

Hey, they’re young. But what coach Derek McDaniel says is true, they do play hard. Look no further than the loss to Buffalo Gap. A blowout? Maybe, but it’s not like this Green Hornet team rolled over and let the Bison stampede all over them. Nope. Gap had to fight for that win.
Record: 2-5 Last week: Lost 35-9 to Buffalo Gap Previous: 6
With their second win of the season, the Caissons are in the Capital Area Football Conference title game. What?! Yes, it’s true. They’ll face Model for the title on Nov. 8.

About
Toggling between the butt-numbing bleachers and standing against a fence, I watched Justin Verlander give up one hit and lose to Clarke County. I watched Jake Peeling wrap his dad in a hug after pitching a no-hitter.
