A history of police impersonation

A Virginia Beach man is off the hook in Augusta County for charges connected to unlawful sale of police equipment, but Bryon F. Fritz, 39, isn’t free from the long arm of the law.

Augusta County prosecutors dropped charges against Fritz Tuesday, but he was sentenced last month in Virginia Beach to 10-months in jail in for violating probation by owning law-enforcement-related items. He has been convicted of impersonating police officers numerous times since the 1980s, according to court records.

The Virginian Pilot has covered Fritz’s legal wranglings over the years and published a thorough story on him in February. You can read it by clicking here.
