Friday night basketball - it’s fantastic
Friday night basketball at the YMCA in Waynesboro is picking up steam.
On its first Friday night, 36 kids took part. The next Friday the number was up to 60 and last Friday, there were 100 kids that took part, along with three city police officers and two full gyms, according to YMCA Executive Director Jeff Fife.
The basketball program is designed as a wintertime activity to curb gang activity.
The program continues every Friday night through March 27 from 9 p.m. to midnight for teens 12-16.
