Weather conditions improving, but not quite everywhere

Weather conditions are certainly improving here. Temperatures on Afton and in Waynesboro - unofficially recorded by my car’s digital temperature monitor (it’s an OnStar thing, I think) was 44, with temperatures in Staunton at 48, according to NBC29.

However, it’s not the same all the way around. In Ruckersville, it was still 30 at 1 p.m. with some dense fog (and my driveway a sheet of ice still), and was 32 on most of my drive toward Charlottesville. On I-64 heading toward Afton, temperatures bumped up to 37, down to 32, and then, by the time I got to Afton, a steady rain was falling and temperatures jumped to 44, which held steady until I reached Waynesboro.

The streets here - just wet, but it feels almost balmy.

Then again, if anyone’s driving north out of Augusta County, there’s a winter storm warning still in effect for Rockingham, Page and Shenandoah counties.

The National Weather Service is calling for a slight chance of rain and lows of around 23 in the Waynesboro area with a warmup to 38 tomorrow, so there may yet be slick spots during the early morning hours.
