Will Dave play for cake?

Will Dave play for cake?

That’s what Terry and Heather Short are hoping for. The two are set to open Short & Sweet Bakery in Waynesboro at 133 North Wayne Avenue in early May and are hoping to have the Dave Matthews Band play at the new store.

“Now, I realize that this request may sound a bit crazy, and of course I don’t really have any moo-laa per-se that I could pay you with,“ Heather Short wrote in a message to Dave Matthews’ My Space account. “But what I am prepared to offer, is a free cake of your choice for the opportunity to simply have you grace my little store with your musical prowess.“

Here’s the rest of what Heather Short wrote to Matthews:

Dearest Mr. Matthews-

My name is Heather Short and am opening a bakery in little ‘ol downtown Waynesboro, Virginia called, short & SWEET Bakery.  Recognizing that you’ve probably got a few things on your plate…I thought I’d make this brief.

I wanted to extend an offer to you to perhaps perform at my new little bakery if you’re ever in the area.  Now, I realize that this request may sound a bit crazy, and of course I don’t really have any moo-laa per-se that I could pay you with.  But what I am prepared to offer, is a free cake of your choice for the opportunity to simply have you grace my little store with your musical prowess.  I’d be happy to promote the little show by placing a flyer in my storefront window.

For your salvitatory pleasure (not sure that’s actually a word), I’ve included my website where you’re welcome to pick a cake from the photo collection…or simply dream one up to your fancy.  www.shortandsweetbakery.com

Looking forward to hearing you play some tunes at short & SWEET…

Sincerely,
Heather
