Broken rim? You’ve got to be kidding!
How many University of Miami arena workers does it take to fix a basketball hoop?
Evidently, about 20.
If you can believe it, the start of this afternoon’s Virginia-Miami basketball game has been delayed—for about 21 minutes now—while workers try and fix a bent rim.
This is the second goofy thing that has happened to UVa in the last couple of weeks.
On Feb. 21, the Cavaliers game at Georgia Tech was canceled because of a leaky roof at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
As I type, workers continue to tinker with the rim. One guy keeps going into his tool box and taking out bigger screwdrivers. It really doesn’t look too promising.
At one point, Virginia coach Dave Leitao came over to inspect the situation. He too had a “You’ve got to be kidding me” look on his face.
I don’t understand why they just don’t bring in a new backboard and rim.
