Finally Some Real Competition
I don’t know about you, but I’m getting fired up for tomorrow night’s game against Syracuse.
This is going to be Virginia’s first real test at home this season. After non-competitive games with the likes of Vermont, Howard and Drexel, it will be fun to see how UVa players can do against players at a much higher skill level.
The point guard matchup should be fun to watch. Syracuse has a stud freshman in Jonny Flynn. Flynn has had some great games this season, but let’s see how he does against All-ACC guard Sean Singletary, a much more experienced player.
I’ll also be anxious to see if Singletary can cut down on his turnovers and play a little smarter. So far this year, his numbers have been pretty good, but he’s forced things and been out of control on many occasions (particularly in the Philly Classic).
Since Syracuse plays mainly zone, you know the Cavs are probably going to jack up a lot of 3-pointers. But to be successful, I think they’re going to need to drive more to the basket, get to the free-throw line and also get some points from their big men.
