Harris has broken hand but will continue playing

It certainly didn’t seem like a good sign when Joe Harris said after yesterday’s game that he couldn’t squeeze his left hand.

(See above video clip that I shot.)

Turns out, Harris played the second half of yesterday’s game with a fractured bone. The good news is that he is going to be able to continue playing since it is his non-shooting hand.

Here’s the news release that was issued by the school this afternoon.

CHARLOTTESVILLE—Virginia sophomore guard Joe Harris fractured a bone in his left hand in the Cavaliers’ 70-52 loss at North Carolina on Saturday (Feb. 11).
The stable fracture will be managed without an operation at this time. Harris’ hand will be protected when he plays and he will be closely monitored.
Harris has started all 24 of the Cavaliers’ games this season. He is averaging 12.5 points and 4.1 rebounds a game.
Virginia’s next game is at Clemson on Tuesday (Feb. 14). The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
