It’s Gonna Be A Good One

It’s still about 30 minutes before the tip-off of tonight’s Virginia-Xavier game, but there is definitely some energy inside of the Cintas Center here in Cincinnati. A student painted in blue from head to toe just screamed in Sean Singletary’s face as he was taking some jumpers in warm-ups. Singletary pretended like he didn’t hear him.
This is my first time in this building. I have to say that it’s one of the nicest facilities I’ve seen in my two-plus years on this beat. It kinda reminds me of JPJ in that the seats all seem like they are right on top of the court.
This place is gonna get really loud. UVa better have its ‘A’ game tonight. It looks like this arena provides a pretty sweet home-court advantage.
It doesn’t look like Virginia big man Lars Mikalauskas is going to play tonight. He was working out before the game but wasn’t in uniform.
Jamil Tucker, who missed the Hartford game with back spasms, is in uniform.
One matchup I’m interested in is at point guard. Singletary and 5-foot-7 Xavier senior Drew Lavender should be fun to watch.
