Basketball recruiting guru Bob Gibbons of the All-Star Report isn’t afraid to tell you his true opinion on a player. For example, just before I asked him about Virginia commit Evan Nolte, Gibbons called Duke commit Austin Rivers one of the most over-rated players in the country.
So I bet you’re wondering what Gibbons had to say about Nolte?
Well, here it is…
“He’s a shooter; he’s skilled,“ Gibbons said. “I’ll tell you of who he reminds me of as a high school player—Kyle Singler. His game is very comparable to that—meaning he can shoot it from the outside, he can slash to the hoop, he’s got good size, he can rebound.
“That’s a great get for the Cavaliers. He’s a perfect fit. He’s a Tony Bennett type kid—a great attitude, a team-oriented player, no big ego. That’s an excellent choice for both the school and the young man. They fit together perfectly.”
Athleticism?
“He’s active. It will come with physical maturity. He’ll get stronger. He’s only a junior. He’s got another year of high school.”
