UVa trails FSU at the half, 34-23

TALLAHASSEE—Virginia got off a promising start, jumping out to a 14-7 lead after a Sammy Zeglinski 3-pointer.

The Hoos led 19-15 after an Akil Mitchell dunk.

However, FSU answered with a 19-4 run to take a 34-23 lead at the break.

UVa did a terrible job of defending the 3-point line. The Seminoles drained uncontested triples on three straight possessions.

FSU did most of its damage with leading scorer and rebounder Chris Singleton out of the game. Singleton scored 11 quick points before suffering an unknown injury about midway through the first half.

Stats:

Sammy leads UVa with eight points.

UVa is shooting 28 percent from the field; FSU is 46 percent.

FSU has nine turnovers to UVa’s five.
