Sammy Z Hurtin

For those who may have missed it, I reported in Monday’s editions of the newspaper that Virginia freshman Sammy Zeglinski hasn’t been at 100 percent due to an ankle injury.
Personally, I think it’s a bummer that Sammy Z may not ever be at full strength this season. I was really looking forward to seeing him be a big part of the team. I think he’s the only true point guard on the roster.
When healthy, I think he can play a little like Phoenix Suns star Steve Nash. Pass-first point guards are so rare right now.
When you think about it, it’s pretty amazing that Sammy Z has handed out 13 assists this season in just 52 minutes of playing time. That’s the third highest total on the team!
Sean Singletary and Calvin Baker can do a bunch of good things, but I don’t think they can make other players better the way Sammy Z has the potential to.
Maybe he can get the ankle better as the season goes. Virginia has a pretty light schedule in December.
