A Madison County man convicted of murder who was released after serving only a portion of his original sentence is back behind bars – but for new, unrelated charges. Kevin George Garr — who was convicted in 1992 of second-degree murder in the death of Sarah Johnson Compton of Reva — was arrested Jan. 5 and charged with a series of Madison crimes authorities say occurred this past fall.
